Thai language lessons in Phuket are with experienced, native-speaking Thai teachers. We produce our own Thai study books and materials, which we have developed over more than 27 years of teaching Thai to foreigners. Whether you wish to learn only conversational Thai, to learn to read and write Thai, to progress quickly or to take your time, Patong Language School has a course to suit you!
The Thai Foundation Course is a two-week language course that commences every Monday throughout the year (with the exception of Songkran in mid-April and Xmas/New Year).
This beginner course is 15 Thai lessons spread over 5 days at 3 lessons per day at our school in Patong Beach, Phuket. Lessons are on Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the first week, and Tuesday and Thursday in the second week.
Class times are 10.00am until 12.50pm, with a 10 minute break at 10.50am and 11.50am.
What study materials are used?The Thai Foundation Course book is included in the course fee.
What will you learn?The Thai Foundation Course book uses simple phonetics to get you speaking from day one. You’ll start off with Thai pronouns and verbs to make short statements, then progress to negatives and question forms. You’ll learn how to use Can, Cannot and Can?, how to count in Thai, and use adjectives to describe objects. The course covers possessive forms, so you can say an item is ‘yours’, ‘mine’, etc. You’ll cover the different forms of the verb-to-be that are used in Thai, and finally days of the week and points in time. There is an answer to all the exercises at the back of the book. In just 2 weeks of study you get a good grounding in the basics of the Thai language.
How much does it cost?The Thai foundation language course costs 2,900 Baht per person for 15 lessons over 2 weeks and includes the study book.

I studied the Thai Foundation class taught by Khun Tin. I would like to say that I was really pleased by the content itself as I learned a lot more, both grammar and vocabulary wise, than I imagined possible in such a short time frame. Moreover, the teacher really impressed me with her capability to explain complex Thai structures really well, her high level of English and her enthusiasm and dedication, she really makes a difference! It was time and money very well spent,
